Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs unexpectedly announced he was taking a 6 month leave of absence from Apple today due to his ongoing medical problems. I very much hope Mr. Jobs is okay and he returns to the company he founded and rescued. Steve Wozniak, his co-founder in Apple, is one of my personal heroes and Steve Jobs has always held a special place in my heart because of his partnership with Woz and his central place in the history of computing. My family’s first computer was a used Apple IIe and even though I wasn’t always a Mac fan, I’ve really admired what Apple has done since Jobs’s return. He, Woz, and Bill Gates are at the top of the list of people who invented the personal computer and in very real ways the world we live in today, as well as the device and industry that has given my life focus and meaning since I can remember.
Get well soon Mr. Jobs.

I remember that Apple computer very well. Matt’s dad had gotten a bonus at work and opted to use it to get the kids a computer, pretty uncommon then. We met a VERY large man at his storage unit on a VERY hot day in Santee California. He had to get up on a ladder and search through many, many boxes to find all the components. By the time he got everything down, I was sure he was going to perish in the heat. We offered him the amount of Bob’s bonus but he wanted substantially more money. Facing the possibility of restocking that computer, he said for us to take it with just one caveat: that we would in essence, “pay it forward” one day. I think Matt has done that admirably.

I heard today that Steve Jobs is taking his third medical leave of absence!! So he can focus on his health. Is this the end of the Apple empire? The stock exchange of Frankfurt responded with a share value which was 7% lower! I am wondering Apple share’s will do tomorrow at the NYE
